I read an article recently of a piece of equipmant that kindof fits over the bottom of the outboard where the propellor is, kindof a flap that is adjustable and can slow down your speed.

Sorry to be so vague but I read this ages ago. Let me go through some magazines and see if I can find you the name.

I think Solas make the product makubwa is refering to. Might be worth looking at their website. Otherwise towing a heavy duty bucket can slow things down.

    Good Luck,

Tie a bucket to the back off the boat on about 2 foot of rope. the drag from the bucket slows the boat up. This use to work for me anyway.

My Dad used to do the same when trolling Flatfish lures in Lake Pedder.

Why not drop the idle speed ? or if its new you may be able to change the prop pitch (with whoever you bought it from),but which will also affect top end speed otherwise the bucket seems the way to go,just a pain in the backside-literally

Rather than a bucket, you might try towing a sea anchor a couple of meters behind your boat.

The device referred to above is called 'trollmatic' avail from lots of boat outlets, its a plate which sits over back of prop and slows down but flips up when speeding up. Google it

Or as said bucket or sea anchor (drogue) or perhaps easiest, ask dealer to slow idle to lowest possible.
