Thanks guys. Tha nuclear chickens were 7in fished on 20lpd braid with a 40pld flourocarbon leader, most fish were caught just droping them 2 the bottom but if it hit the bottom i would give it a few jerks let it sink n then wind in 2 or so foot n give it another jerk. Ash brought the plastics n i used his rod while he was sleeping. Water depth was 55m with 1oz jighead no swivel 4 the leader 2 the braid there was no current when i used them ash used another colour and got a cobe on them also, as well as other fish
Stuie i have filled it 2 720l, and i don't know how much more it would hold.
g day ty
love the pixs of the sun rise and the fish. what do you think of the blue maroi , we got 1 at fraser laster year and could not get it to go back down, so we cooked him and found a bit tough. some top snapper and pearly's there. how far north of the bar did you end up? the nuclear chicken are all the go we landed a few
snapper of m/bar on sunday with them.
will be planing a trip out of tincan next weekend if the weather is good. will be keen to see what the run is like by then, hope it drops off. mite run in to you up that way one day. keep the reports coming
regards
dwane
Great report Ty, quality fish as well, putting in the hard yards really paid off, your quality of fish are inspiring me to go wider and tangle with some of those beauties. The fuel bill is the killer though, staying out for extended days is the go, makes me wish i had a big cat like yours. Well done keep up the good work.
Cheers Tiger.
block, i would put red emperor well above all other fish, however, the blue maori is similar in texture and a very sweet tasty fish that is far better than all other cods except coral cod. I put it up there with one of the best fish of what i have eaten but needs to be cooked perfectly otherwise will become chewy just like trout. didn't go any further north than eurong...never really do as theres no need to go further.
sea tiger, only about 10% of the catch came from out wide consisdering about 40% of our fishing effort was out wide. Our best catches came from within 20nm of the bar.
