    Mud. wello. river. green.

Just a bit of info just in case some of you are headed out on the weekend, yesterday morning i hit the river and tried the wall and the channell dropoffs for nil, headed out to western side of mud for 2 squire 36 and 37cm, then tried northeast area for nil, this morning i tried green and wellington point, was flat as a tack but very very quite, only 2 little boats in close at wello and i had green all to myself, was strange as not one boat come through the channell between green and st helena, used 6lb braid to cast further from boat in clear water but it didnt make a difference, got 1 squire out of the blue going 36cm and 1 at 20cm, was not even turtle activity at green as you normally see heaps, im thinking we need a big southerly or northerly and some rain as its a case of nobody home at these spots this week and im thinking that will do me for snapper till near summer, going to chase some tasty flathead next week on 1 kg crystal fireline...cheers.

Likewise I went to Mud last night and caught nothing but undersized fish all evening - undersize squire mostly and even a baby tailor.

As I pulled in my anchor to come home, I thought that I would try just one last cast. Surprise, surprise - that generated a 38 cm squire - my only legal fish of the night.

Thanks for the report alleycat, was heading off on Friday morning to fish the same areas, think i'll get stuck into the gardening instead! Am sick of coming home fishless the last few weeks. Although still enjoyable, i still like to go home with a couple of keepers. Bring on summer I say.

I would like to think im pretty consistent around mud but of late is has been pretty ordinary. But I see this as a good thing it means I have been trying a few different spots in deeper water around the bay and the fish have started making their way into the boat again.

I tried one of Bayfishers deeper spots as well as 1/2 dozen others today for a feed of 38-44 small squire. Certainly worked hard for a feed. Tried Mud on the way home for nil results except my brother got smashed by a Cod or something as he was reeling in a tiddler.
Bring a big SE blow with some rain

On wednesday morning i headed straight from the north east light at mud towards the last big easterly leads on the brisbane river channell and although ive only got a lousy sounder about 500 mtrs to 1 klm off that last lead i found some rubble on the bottom, anybody ever sussed this area out full with a decent sounder??.
