    too late for moreton bay?

in 8 weeks we'll be moving to redlands area. my tackle box is brimming with new lures etc. a couple of new rods, new outboard, crab pots.....

now the greenies want to ban fishing in the bay!!!! fffaarrrrrkkkk!! am i too late to fish in moreton bay?

ive been thinkin. as we fishermen dont agree with this "land grab", neither should we police it. i recon if you see someone fishing in the new green zone (if it comes to be), we should smile and wave. dont dob in anyone as then we are policing the restrictions against ourselves for the greens!!!! only a fool would do that eh?!

I don't entirely agree Spinner. Your intent seems good though. I'm personally not too sure about the whole zoning business. I'm sure that most of the people involved are well intentioned, but as to the accuracy of the science?

As for dobbing anyone in - it would depend on who they are. A trawler would get an instant dob in, along with photo's including the GPS position etc. Probably call a TV station as well.

A rec fisho I would prefer to help out by going over and letting them know where they are, even though they should know. After all, the fines for fishing in restricted areas are huge. If they tell me where to go, too bad. I've done my bit to help them out, if they get caught they'll just have to cop it. But I won't be dobbing them in.

    Cheers

reckon I agree with spinner and BBB on this.

But IT AIN"T TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING. The MBAA is actively fighting for the right of bay users including fishers. Grant Bennet has just put up an excellent post in the 'news' section on what they have been up to recently and what we can all do to help. The Fishing Party is also getting it's act together for the Federal election. They will also need people to vote for them and also assist with the electoral process.

There is heaps we can do to fight for our rights.

At Tin Can Bay we have the opposite trouble . The State Government want to sell land to a marina developer for 250 berth marina. The locals had to travel to Brisbane to fight an application to the Conservation courts to block the developer from getting a judgment stopping the Local anti marina Lobby group having a say in the environmental impact study. Where are the Green's or the Courier Mail nowhere to be seen. Went out last week Dugones , turtle and dolphins were swimming in the channel. Pure heaven soon to be a boaties playground.
