    overhead rod with spin reel

Gday guys, can someone tell me what will happen if I use my large spinning reel on my 10-15kg overhead boat rod? Will it snap under load or simply lack performance because its bending the wrong way? Thanks for any help.

Na mate there is no bending the wrong way. You may find the line feeding from the Spinner may not be as efficient as the first runner wont be as big as a standard spinning rod but the rod wont have a problem taking the strain so to speak. There would be a problem putting and overhead reel on an spinning rod as the line will often touch the blank as there is ussually less runners to stop it. I dont think you will have too much trouble.

    mate

you will find that using an overhead rod as a spin rods you will find it a bit stiffer due to the number of runners. also if the rod builder has found the correct backbone your rod may try and twist if you catch something large.
