    Noosa Report 24-07-07 to 31-07-07

OK....I have had some tragic computer problems that has seen the computer in the hospital for the last week.....BUT it seems to be back in action.... .
I will put a few reports up from the last week as having no computer has left me with even more fishing time..... .
The river was firing last week but the action seems to have slowed a little now.
There was a mixture of Big eye,GT's,Tea leaf and longnose trevally mainly averaging around a 1kg and some nice fish around the 2-2.5kg mark.
The was also some great queenies mixed in and I saw a young bloke land a 4kg fish which is an awesome fish for the river. It was one of the biggest I have seen in the river and I have only managed them about 2.5kg.
Later in the week I managed a soft plastic session at Sunshine Reef to chase some snapper.Only managed some small squire but still good fun on plastics.
I pulled the hook on a really nice fish and also managed to get bricked on the bottom once....using a 1/4 ounce head and Gulp 3 inch squid in lime tiger colour.
Finally I also managed another great beach session with the old man and we landed another 25 bream in a 3 hour period.Great fun.

Hopefully this computer behaves now so I can stay on line.

    Cheers
    Pete

Nice work Pete. The average size of the bream looks pretty good. Let's hope they hang around a bit longer. It's been the best winter for bream for quite a few years IMO

    Great stuff pete.

I saw that kid with the queeny on the fishing noosa website, and it was like 4lb gear if I'm correct?

I'm keen to head upto Noosa again. I love It there!
There are enough trevs in the river aye!
Keep smiling, It makes people wonder what you're up to.

The old Noosa system keeps on producing. good to see what controlled development in river catchments can do. Its really interesting to see the variety you are getting. During the late 70's and early 80's it was my stomping ground and I spun up literally thousands of GT's, Big Eye and even Diamond Trevs without the others you get. I got Threadies, Jacks, Cobia and Jew but never even saw a Queenie. Might have been technique or a change in species that are resident in the area

    Cheers

Another nice catch Pete. Can you describe the rig you are using in the surf for the bream? Are they tending to be in the deeper gutters/holes, or out wide?
I had a go at Marcoola for a short while on Saturday - could only muster a nice dart and a few throwbacks, including a just legal bream. I was using fresh worms and fishing good looking water (well, looked good to me :-) ).

Very basic rig mate......I have been using those Gamakatsu worm hooks in a size 2.....Small piece of red tubing as you use for whiting (bream dont seem to mind it either)........6lb trace about 40cm up to small swivel and a size 4 bean sinker running down to swivel.
I have been fishing close in gutters and casting not too far out.....Fishing light line definetly helps with the bream in the clear water. Also more fun.

    Pete
