    FISH KILL north pine dam

    Hey fishos.
Took the quad for a ride around the dam this arvo and there are literally hundreds and hundreds of dead tilapia washed up on the banks. I have seen reports of this on forgan, mgavins side of the dam but i was riding around the other side. I only saw one bass out of all the ones i seen. . There were alot of pig diggins and a fair few of the fish looked like the pigs and hawks have had a gook chomp on the. The only problem was that the smell was BLOODY rotten.

I am not surprised really, lots of ppl around here have been playing with barras in thier ponds and dams hoping for a winterised version. One guy at Dayboro had over a hundred spread accross 4 dams i know of as fact.

Rumors still go around the RSPCA lake at Dakabin was stocked with barras prior to the RSPCA getting the site. God knows a helluva lot of work went into creating a fish environment in that dam prior to it filling with all the structure built into the dam floor.

well the council boys are picking up the talapia at the moment. and they came accross the barra dead. if I can get a copy of the fish on the computer I will Email it . I only have paper version at the moment. Which i took home to make sure as i to was surprised. Talapia are a tropic fish are they thrive. If the barra could only breed then we would be picking up dead barra and talapia at the moment

Hey Funda, have you come to get a look at what fishing looks like without ice involved????

I would love a photo of the barra at Kurwongbah. Actually would have preferred to have caught it. Note to self throw more lures at Kurwongbah!!!
