    Macleay monday

I was on call all over the weekend, so was unable to get out, but after doing 16 hours over the weekend, 8 of them up until midnight last night, I got out for a fish this afternoon. I'm also in the middle of packing to move, so my room was in chaos, took me an hour or so to clear the bed so I could sleep. Didnt get up until late and made the mental health day phonecall, after having a chat to my brother.

On the water by 1:00, had a quick drift past the SE corner of coochie, nothing, so moved on to macleay. It was quiet for a little while, then I had a hit, again like the one I had last week, it was only small, then the reel starts going off for all of about a second then PING! lost at the hook. Backed the drag off a bit after that, seeing as I was using 10lb leader, a lime tiger fry on a 1/12 1/0 was what had gotten belted.

The rest of the afternoon was very slow until the sun disappeared and the moon peeped over straddie, then we were on to a few in the shallow water, one of them going just 40, but everything else was only half that, everyone went back to belt a lure another day. Had plenty of hits that didn't hook up also, sometimes 4 in a row!

I also managed a couple of small flathead, a sole, and chris also had a small mackerel over near the big red.

Not a bad way to relax, and prepare myself for the move!

Sounds like a nice relaxing afternoon Simon.
Mate that clear water and full moon makes the fish spook easily.
    Good luck with the move.

Sounds like me this arvo. Popped into the river for an hr to see if anything was on the chew. 1/2hr nothing then up to my spot x and 3rd cast braid stretches out and the stradic starts screaming.
Bricked after losing half my spool. I called it for a Jewie before shooting back to the ramp. Hope my luck changes by tomorrow.
    It better!

Hey thanks for the replies guys. Swano, we have caught a few tailor there before mainly undersize, but yeah anything is possible! Richieboy, we've thought about a jew too, my brother has caught a couple out there in the past, around 40cm i think one went... but thinking about it now, it was very close to the time of dead low and slack water hmm!
