Better than Working - Brissy River

After flying back home from a work trip very late last night I headed out, later than ideal, after a bit of a sleep in. Caught up with Richieboy at the ramp on his way home with a couple of solid squire from a productive session that got my hopes up (nice work by the way mate!). Started drifting the sunken wall for a couple of nice flatties and three bream while I waited for the tide to slow a little to hit a couple of deep ledges and drop offs that i've been itching to try. Headed over to them but couldn't get a plastic past the bloody pike, landed about half a dozen and lost twice that many SP's which pissed me off because there were a couple of solid arches showing just off the bottom. Moved to the second ledge and finally managed a few pinkies but all only around the mid thirties and certainly nothing like the quality that Richie had from earlier.

Tide got too slick so headed out to the mouth wall which was way, way too gin clear so headed back into the river rock walls. Found water with a bit more colour and scored some bream (all around 30cm) but they were very finicky, just tapping the plastics. I was running out of time so headed for some weedier patches and after dropping a solid flatty, scored a 60cm one on "the last cast" of the day which was transformed into my dinner.

Great conditions out there today with next to no wind but the water is way too clear out the front though, especially on the run-in. All fish were caught with 6lb braid with the exception of the final flathead that fell to the baitcaster sporting 12lb string. Best lures were bass minnows (watermelon), squidgy wriggler (bloodworm) and ecogear grass minnow (pink). Sorry no pics today, left the camera at home in my tired state this morning.
