    Sundown on Townsville rock walls

Hit the rock walls at 4pm .................absolutely nothing. One rod with a big live mullet and the other with herring strips. At 6:15pm just as the sun set line peeled off one of the rods and I landed a nice 58cm blue salmon. 2 minutes later a 26cm grunter that went back and I have just finished eating the freshly caught salmon. Beer batter is the go.....

very quite for 2 hours plus and all over in 10 minutes.............time to go home and cook the catch

    cheers

It's a good place for no bites. Always something happening, Wed night sailing always good to see. Where on the rock wall did you setup?

    Hi

Watched a bit of the sailing.............also fed the loacl seabirds with dead herring. I castnetted near Aplins and caught about 30 herring in one cast. About half of them died so used them for strip bait and used the live ones on a pternoster rig set up.

I was near the duck pond and a fair distance from marina entrance. I almost gave up after 2 hours of absolutely nothing. Lost a large live mullet to a crab that snipped the 60lb mono.

All in all a relaxing afternoon after knocking off early.

yeah kev i've noticed it being very quiet up our way also, i'v finally got me new boat, and i can't even 'bood' it. i used to have more luck when i fished the rock wall.

Was tlking to a guy from work who was up at taylors beach on the weekend, same story, no fish, however they managed 30 legal muddies over the weekend. They found 15 in one pot during the weekend (they were all undersize though).

Last year this time i could come home with at least 3 keepers everytime. Doing it hard for a feed this year. I have decided to go north early september, hoping to get a decent feed.

Lets hope that this is the calm before the storm

    cheers

Yeah all the reports have been quite up this way. The odd good fish coming in to those persitant enough to put up with the crappy weather.
Let's just hope it is the calm before the storm ey Kev.
Might head out Sunday morn and try my luck.
