    Quintrex Side console Install

I joined this chatboard because i,ve been trying to find info on what i need to install a side console into my 400 hornet trophy quintrex it is currently a tiller steer.

Sounds easy however no fishing stores in my area can give me any direction.

    Has anyone done this.

Yep. I recently fitted one for a customer into a SeaJay 435 or 4 something-or-other.

He bought the boat new and had the factory add some pieces into the subfloor for the console to be screwed to. He had the console made by an alloy place. You can buy plastic consoles pre made but I don't know about ally consoles.

You will need to pull up your floor and map out the underfloor bracing in order to plan th esize of your console and where it will attach. Or if you dont have a floor you'll need to plan some bracing to be welded in. Don't forget to weld a plate to the inside edge of the gunwale to mount your control box or you can mount it on the console but you'll need to reverse the handle.

The Seajay had 3mm thick and about 25mm wide flat or right angle (can't remember now) ally welded to the floor structure for the console to attach to. I used large self tappers to secure the console. I would have preferred nuts and bolts but that would have required cutting a hole in the floor and then fitting a hatch with supports underneath etc etc etc

The large self tappers held it very firm. Had about 10-12 screrws from memory.

    Cheers

Mate i think that the "hockey stick" would be the connecting arm to either your cable end or steering ram depending on the steering type you choose. The connector bolt's onto your engine there should be a cast ally bracket type set up proberbly where your tiller arm is bolted onto now it will more than likely have two threaded hole's there now for it to bolt onto. The arm will be avaliable from most boat shop's to suit whatever engine you have(only one bolt go's to engine so it can pivot). On a 400 hornet cable steering would be the best choice and cheapest.Hope this help's Dan......

Don't know what you are referring to re the hockey stick setup. BLA stock complete steering kits for about $250 plus the wheel, about $40.
