    security at public ramps-Bribie Island

Gedday ausfishers. Looking to do an overnighter out of Bribie and was just wondering if there is any danger with leaving your vehicle/trailer o/night at the local ramps? Was planning to use the ramp near the VMR and be back for the M&g on saturday.
    Cheers Terry..

At the end of the day Terry,

NO public ramp is safe from these thieving pricks nowadays, It is just the luck of the draw, lock up nice in safe, use a trailer lock or join a club where they have a lockable compound for the extra peace of mind, it still does not stop them completely though.

    Cheers Ryan.

this will create some flack i'm sure,,,,,,,,,

terry as ryan replied,,,, public ramps are a problem whether you have a $100 beat up heap of a car,,, or a new 50 grand 4b,,,, at the end of the day,,, if you have some scumbag that wants or needs to prove a point to (himself) others,, you'll suffer damage or loss

the vmr ramp is pretty good with lighting,,,, spinnaker is dark,,,, the ramp at bongaree opposite the caravan park is okay,,,,

in saying that,,, you have the following to consider,,,, vmr,,,,, close to moretons pub and not too many ""close"" neigbours to yell if anything is going on,,,, spinnaker,, the caravan park is close by but too far out of sight for any ""careing"" people to yell if something is going on,,,, bongaree ramp is directly opposite the park AND the bowls club so once the night settles in you have a smaller risk of damage but not of theft

all in all,,,, its like me asking if my unlocked car is safe outside your place,,,, whilst your awake,,,,mmmmmmm all is well,,,, once the pub/bowls club close and you have people/idiots walking around,,,, maybe worthwhile turning on the alarms

its pretty good around the island at he present time though,,,, its not holiday season,,,,but theres enough members who live here so if you want a bit of extra security you can organise to park it out front of my or anyone elses place without too many probs,,,, just don't return too early,,,,

I use the ramp at Toorbul and the locals there are a pretty protective lot. They soon turn up when idiots are loitering about causing trouble.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. It won't stop me going one way or another. The car is insured and alarmed and the trailer will have a lock on it. Just know that some ramps down here in nth brissy have a bad rep. Will probably use the ramp at the VMR. Appreciate the offer choppa. Are you somewhere near one of them ramps??
    Cheers Terry...

I leave my car & trailer At the VMR ramp at night but usually return by midnight. The only problem is that the pub closes at 2am and you may get druken louts walking by. If there is two of you in your crew ( one to drive the boat one to drive your car) I can offer a plan for you to leave it at my house as there is plenty of room. Pm me if you need...

no seriously i'm based over in pacific harbour,,,, but as intended the calm side is only a matter of a few minutes drive away,,,,,

i'll hopefully be out on the water sunday morn if the paint job that is planned for tomorrow allows for a water test,,,

look out for an unmarked BLACK 12 footer,,,,, i don't need to say anymore than that,,, if you see it you know it'll be me,,,

it'll stand out more when the reno job is complete though

I'd imagine on a Friday night it may be more vandalisim than theft with more activity around the ramp it should be fine.

I've done a few over nighters at various places and it is allways a gamble.

I did leave my keys on the back of the hard top tonneau once down at Pinkenba ramp Left the ramp at 4 am & I got back at 5pm that afternoon and they where still where i'd left them. I was park next to the ramp as well.
