    The Pin and Pine River

    Hey there Ausfishers.

Been getting fed up with bad weather and heading to my usual haunts from mud island to green island so I decided to try out some new waterways that were a bit more sheltered.

Headed down to the pin for the second time in my life armed only with soft plastics. I took the dog for a run in the boat which was very interesting. If he wasn't jumping overboard he was barking at the motor or trying to eat my soft plastics. Had no idea what was around the next bend but ended up near the powerlines. Had a quick flick for about an hour, landed a 50cm flathead and headed home with dinner on board.

Sunday just gone i decided to go for a flick up the pine river- never been in this neck of the woods before. Left the dog at home and just took soft plastics and a few crab pots. Hooked a flathead which spat the hook near the boat; followed by a nice whiting and a small bream. Scored a few sandies and a muddie well over a kilo. Covered alot of ground and fished for a about 2 1/2hrs.

Great fun getting out and testing your skill in unchartered territory. I highly recommend it!

    Hi Nov,

Where was the pot that came up trumps, I thought they'd all gone to ground with this cold snap....

The Pine is a great place to explore when the weather is crap.

Sounds like you did well and found a couple of crabs that can't read or write. (the old NO R in the month trick)

    Hey Guys
The water in the pine was very clear in the lower reaches.
I dropped the pot just to the left of the channel, on the first bend heading up stream from the ramp... what ramp? Don't know the name of it cause i don't frequent the area much but the one near the boat hire joint.
