Camping At Bargara
Guys and Gals,
Got a mate of mine who is heading camping at Bargara (Bargara Beach Caravan Park) for the last two weeks of September which I think is the school holiday period.
Can anyone give me any info on the place that I can pass onto him, I have been told that sand flies can be an issue up there, is this the case as they have two young children.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Camping At Bargara
Hi Paul,
Sorry for the delay in response - I'm just back from a week on Moreton and only saw this now.
I took the little fella up there in the September school holidays last year and we had a ball. It's a great site, clean, good amenities, family friendly and walking distance to everything. Didn't notice sandflies much at all - no different to anywhere else at that time of year I wouldn't have thought, and a lot better than most.
If I hadn't just changed jobs I'd be up there again with the same group in a flash - they've been going at that time for a few years now.
Here's the website - it really is everything they claim.

Good luck,

You could not pick a better place to go Paul.Bargara is a top spot i have been there a dozen times or so times. Close to the Reef. Fitsroy, Lady Elliot, Musgrave, Some of the best parts of the reef system. The beachs at Bargara safe with a bit of a wave now and then . Theres some great inshore snorkling spots that are an easy swim from the beach. Oats beach,Head lands around Bagagra, Coral cove,
1770 is about 1.5 hrs drive . The park is very clean . the beach is across the road 70m .Skate park across the road . Old roller skateing rink.

I couldn't agree more. My wife and I go to Bargarra all the time for the shore diving around there. I STRONGLY recommend Absolute Ocean Front caravan park. The name says it all really.

Stayed at Mon Repos last christmas, not that many flies at all if you compare it to moreton in the summer time...
Bargara is nice though, we have friends who live there, some nice little beaches and close to some very very good fishing rocks so i have heard.... '
