Virgin plastic catch, pb brissy river lizard

    Hi peoples

Despite the wind I tied my rod to my tredly and headed out to holt street. Was desperate for a fish. And after reading in the paper that they are going to revamp that area from which I have caught many bream , i saw it a good oportunity to say goodbye to that fishing spot.

got there around 3pm, shortly after high tide.On the way out I was wondering why so many cars were headed towards Pinkinba, as it turns out from all the cars coming to the fishing spot, an American navy ship was docking somewhere...hmm

I thought to myself that this is going to be one whole area of great local land based fishing that is going to be ruined by development.. Oh well..

Spot was full of rubbish and broken glass and left over bait bags as per usual. If only people cared..I'm sure the people that fish there aren't members here.

So I have been fishing with plastics for a few months now, and haven't caught a thing and was even more sceptical about getting a 1/11 tt jighead out there with all the wind and with a few casts I saw my braid flying back into the mangrove trees with the wind.

After a few better casts in the lulls of the breeze, my 2inch natural gulp shrimp was in a good distance on the sandy bottom. After a few flicks of my rod I reeled in and felt a dead weight.Thinking I have snagged another coat hanger (yes I have caught one there before) the line started to squew through the water and the drag started to zzzzzz as the rod bent...oh yeah..this better not be a pike eel hehe....

To my surprise it was a 55cm lizard. The largest I have caught and the first fish I have caught on a plastic. I was very happy and have filleted it and am just about to cook it

Well done beatsta!! A p.b. and a first on sp's. Mine first fish on a placcy was a flatty off the hornibrook bridge and I was a sceptic until then too. Why would a fish eat plastic!?!? But they do! Congrats mate!!
