Garmin 5x5series with 1km transducer or Furuno FCV620?
I have read on the Garmin site that the S series 5x5 sounders have a 1 kw transducer, is this true? Does anyone have any experience with them? How do they perform compared to a Furuno FCV620.

Hi,
Here in the states they come with a 500 watt transom mount transducer but you can go with a 1kw transducer with the 545S and the 555S. The prices for the 1kw here in the US range from around $550 to $1100 USD. The 545 and 555 do have digital fishfinders like Furuno but I have not tested one yet so I really can't give you an opinion. The Furuno will have a little larger screen but of course it is not a combo so you don't get the gps. I have heard alot of good things about the new Garmin, but they are going to have to be incredibly good to compare with the Furuno.
