Offshore Bundaberg 16th July
Hey all,
just a quick report on our trip offshore yesterday. Travelled out around 0630 headed to 20 mile gutter. However 6 miles out the place resembled a washing machine. So we turned around and headed back in as the forecasted 10 to 15 was more like 25 knots. We had a hard slog back to port at around 6 knots. We stayed close inshore and headed up to nursery patch to see if there were any fish around. Nothing on the sounder and nothing biting so we headed to 10 mile reef, which also revealed nothing. With the wind now almost non existent and the 1.5m chop/swell now around .02 of a metre we made quick time out to 20 mile. ended up with only two tuskies for our trouble and the old boy got busted up by what he thought was a bigger parrot.
Ended up being a lovely day but a pitty we didnt catch any more fish.
Fisheries patrol were at the ramp when we got back. Who were nice enough and did their routine inspection of our boat. We had forgot to trim our pectoral fins off our parrot (were planning on gutting the fish at the ramp and doing it then) we didnt realise we had to de- fin them as soon as they hit the esky fortunately they waved our fine and said in future de-fin them when you throw them in the esky.
sorry no pics
