a SP morning off Red rock

    Gday folks

We launched from Arrawarra beach at 5.15am and headed out to North Rock Is off Red Rock in Wayne’s 4.75m Quinnie, there was a little westerly blowing and it was a nippy 3deg as can be seen by my attire (neck warmer, balaclava and a beanie)

I was keen to try out the soft plastics again and I had just made up a heap of jig heads so armed with my new rig an Ian Miller Shimano 7’6” Raider Snapper rod matched to a Shimano 4000 Symetre running 20lb Sufix braid I put on a 7” lime tiger Gulp jerk shad and cast it in, on the second cast I was bricked by something big in a matter of seconds . So while I was tying on a new leader in the dark (gotta love that slim beauty knot)Wayne pulls in a nice 3.25kg Pearl perch on the bottom bouncer . I am back in the water again and its not long before I pull in a PB on placcies snapper of 50cm . It wasn’t long before I bettered the snap with one of 56cm that went 2kg. I caught a small pearly and another snapper before we made a move to a mark out off Pebbly beach, this proved to be uneventful so we went back to a bit deeper water out off Red Rock again and I tried a 7” camo jerk shad this time and pulled another 50cm plus snapper.

Wayne still hasn’t caught a snapper on placcies as yet and is getting frustrated but I am well and truly getting hooked on them.

What a great morning I had with a top mate and a feed of quality eating fish for the family, it don’t get much better than this. In total we came home with 11 nice pan sized snapper and a couple of Pearl perch.

    Cheers Murf

its only the third time I have tried placcies so I am pleased with the results, it won't be long and I will leave the bait at home now to break the 5kg mark
