    Furuno 4100, 6100

I have just about decided the LS4100 is the sounder for me, although the 6100 looks good but is it worth the extra money? The only thing I could find different was the screen size, an extra inch higher or on the diagonal? Is there any other differences? Resolution is the same, this might be a negative?

    Any advice welcome.

    Thanks fnq

Both are great units especially for the money. I have never regretted buying a bigger screen. I always recommend to buy the biggest screen you can afford.
    Good luck!

I think the 4100 screen is big enough but in a few years time my eyes will be getting older

i guess if you have the extra $$$ why not get the bigger one

    How much diff in price?

Thanks for the advice fella's I pressed the button on a 4100 last night $300 AUD , the 6100 was around $120 dearer from memory, if the screen worked out to an inch wider would have chose it instead.

    thanks fnq

    fnq.

They are a great budget unit.
I run mine on maximum speed 4/1 and fish mode as well as increasing the Gain as much as possible without blacking out for the depth i am fishing in. I also push the bottom down to the bottom of the screen using the range function.

    Have fun.

Thanks Scott for the user tip's, very nice to have. I lived with my current Lowrance for the last 9 or so years (still works) had a lowrance for 6 or so before that, before that a paper sounder, think I will be happy with the Furuno, doesn't take much as you can see

Yeh, no difference except screen size.
They are a good solid unit. I have been along side boats with color units and have picked up things they have missed. Plus mine was very reliable that reliable that when I could afford a color unit i went for furuno again and have not been disappointed.
Cheers You have made a sound choice.

    Pual44 - Nice.

Goddy, from Boats.net , without doubt consistently the lowest prices I have found anywhere for what they sell (which is not enough stuff), reliable and are very fast with communication.

    Check out defender.com also.

    cheers fnq

Try Overtons.com they are a big US online group. Had my electronics in 4 days but watch the freight costs its around $80 AUD. They then send a catalogue every few months that is the size of a phone book. The stuff they sell in the States is unbelievable.

    Spring-loaded wharf davits????? What the???
