    Radio Reception

I recently put a 27 meg and a am/fm radio in my boat both GME and conected them both to the 27meg antenne via a band splitter agian GME brand

The 27 meg and the fm radios both have a clear stong signal but the am radio (so i can listen to the sports on the ABC) is all static and i can not pick up any stations

    Any advice ?

    cheers

    Re: Radio Reception

go the two ariels and take out the splitter, should never split your main communication arieal as there is a possiblity of impeding the 27 meg (be a real bugger if it happened when you really need it)
    cheers

    Ps
I have the same setup on my 27 meg and never been happy with reception (I have vhf as main com device)

    Re: Radio Reception

If the 'splitter' is the same as the one I bought then you probably have been had. The one I purchased simply had the inner conductor of the co-ax cable leading to the am/fm radio crimped onto the insulation of the co-ax leading to the 27mHz CB. It relied on any signal picked up by the CBs coax. It's as rough as they come and if it's installed into an aluminium boat then it has very little chance of working. Absolute wrought.
