transducer problem

Gidday all,
l'm not sure if this problem has been covered before, but after fitting a new sounder, l realized the transducer is permanently fixed in place by 2 brackets that allow for slight adjustment. My dilemna is that l can't beach or dry out my boat without damaging the transducer. Any advice would be muchly appreciated.

Mate there's a sliding bracket you can buy have a look on the whitworth's site.Can you not flip your tranny up out of the way before beaching or is it hard fixed like the genuine furuno type?Dan......

Dan, bracket fixed, can't be flipped up. Navman 50/200 hz transducer

Well have a look at the sliding one i'm sure whitworth's will have a picture of one on their site.How's Derby going i havn't been there for about 6 year's i used to get over your way a fair bit sure hope to get back one day too.Cheer's Dan.........

He means there's a bracket available that your transducer can be screwed to that allows your transducer to slide up and down the transom of the boat.

I have Navman transducer, never heard of one that doesnt flick up?

Surely there will be a nut n bolt you can undo to allow this to happen?

6 If necessary, loosen the transducer pivot
bolt so that the transducer can rotate.

Note

: the transducer rotates in ‘clicks’ of
7 degrees.
7 Hold a straight edge on the bottom of the
hull and rotate the transducer so that the
bottom surface of the transducer is parallel
to the bottom of the hull (to the closest click).
8 Push the end of the transducer down by one
click. Tighten the pivot bolt until the rubber
washer on the pivot bolt starts to compress,
then add another 1/4 turn.
If the transducer kicks up when at speed, then tighten the pivot
bolt more.

Note

: The face of the transducer should
face forward by about 7 degrees when the

boat is moving.

The above is from their web site.You can move them,but only by having the adjustment correct,on the pivot bolt, apparently.

Transducer or bracket cannot be flipped up. 2 nuts and bolts on each side hold the transducer in place. Elongated holes allow for slight adjustment, however transducer will always be in danger no matter where it is adjusted. Also adjustment could only be done when boat is out of water. Was thinking of using a S/S hinge somehow but might be easier to go with Dan & Fingas suggestion of sliding bracket
