Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

As per the above diag. Only requires one port and 2 wires, GPS out+ to device receiver+ and GPS out ground to device in -ve

AP wires connected would then be Orange (+ve in) and Blue (-ve in) wouldn't it?

There is absolutely no purpose connecting any of the AP NMEA out wires (in this situation) as the AP is the listener. The GPS is the talker.

Hey guys i realise that this post is a little old but i have the same problem.
I have a LCX 110 and it will not talk to my S1000, I have tried all the wire combinations nothing just no gps on the S1000.
Have all the relavent info turned on in the lowrance but a nogo.
The system will run off a hand held garmin with a rs 232. any ideas??
The 110 will and does talk to my LCX 112.
I have also tried a LCX 337 on it, same problem

Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

I dont know Lowrance, but looking at the specs it seems that it will run NMEA 1083 & 2000. Are you trying to run it from NMEA 2000, Id recon that woud give you probs. Here is the NMEA 1083 wiring if you dont have it.

    NMEA 0183 Wiring
    (Data cable)
To exchange NMEA 0183 data, this unit has one NMEA 0183 version
2.0 communication port. Com port one (Com-1) can be used to receive
NMEA format GPS data. The com port can also transmit NMEA format
    GPS data to another device.

    Thanks Shane
As far as i know i have the wiring right,
I think its got to be in the NMEA settings in the lowrance, although i have looked at them and tried a few changes.
Maybe Catfish55 will come back and give me some info as he got his working.
    Thanks Paul

Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

    Com Port Wiring
The Com-2 communications port wiring diagram below was omitted
from the LCX manual (page 33) and the GlobalMap manual (page 16).
Com-1 can send or receive NMEA 0183 data; Com-2 can only send
    NMEA 0183 data.
Com-2 wiring to transmit NMEA position information
    to another NMEA-compatible device.
It seems that on my unit it may be the blue wire.
Only one i have not tried.

And that did not work either, so i am now limited to a NMEA to sea talk black box at $350.

Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

    Hi Paul,

I've also just fitted an S1000 (yesterday) and have connected it to a Lowrance LCX15MT as per the diagram in this thread. I haven't had a chance to get the boat on the water yet, but when I turn on the S1000 remote control it comes up with the message "no pilot". I'm thinking that's not good! It does allow me to go into standby mode so I can steer the motor via the remote and also lets me go into set up mode, but since the boats not moving I'm not able to go through this procedure. I'm hoping that once I go through the set up procedure all will be good.

I've connected the S1000 to com port 1, and my VHF to port 2. The GPS is only allowing me to select NMEA out on one port at a time though. I also had to adjust the baud rate on com 2 for the VHF to recognise the signal. On my GPS the blue wire is for com port 2.

Will let you know how mine performs when I get the boat on the water. Hopefully next weekend.

    Regards,
    Dave.

Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

It is easy to tell if you have it right.
Just start it all up (make sure that your gps has a signal and is operational) and get your auto pilot to standby, then hit the Pilot button, if you do not have a gps signal it will tell you.
From what i read i think that yours is not working either. I have had mine running off a garmin hand held so i know that at least it works.
Did you hook yours up to pin 3 and pin 5 on the rs232 plug.??

Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

    Hi Paul,

Sort of, but I cut the plug off and just joined the wires. I have a Garmin GPS12, so will connect to that if the Lowrance won't play the game.

    Regards,
    Dave.

Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

Well i finally got it going. CONNECT PIN 2
    What a job
When the handset message says No Pilot means it is not comunicating with the coarse computer, so you have to wait for standby, when you push pilot button (if no GPS signal) you get message No GPS.
If it is working you get message To Slow.
The unit will only run at a baud rate of 4800.
I had to upgrade the Lowrance software for the NMEA 2000 GPS Module to the latest version.
When the Auto Pilot starts to get GPS signals you get the message Initallising, it takes a while.

Re: Raymarine S1000 To Lowrance Gps

Thanks for that info Paul. Hopefully mines all good, as I get the "too slow" message. Will try it out next weekend.

    Regards,
    Dave.
