Figured out what's going on with Lowrance

I have read many posts lately talking about problems with supply and service problems with Lowrance units.

As a Lowrance dealer here in the states I have been dealing with supply issues for several years now. Lowrance has never given a reason to us for shipment delays and their inability provide the quantities of product we need. Lowrance also never mentioned the fact that they had been purchased recently by a Norwegian company called Navico. I think it is really odd that Lowrance didn't bother to at least send a letter to their dealers explaining what is going on.

Navico now owns Eagle, Lowrance, Navman, Northstar, Simrad, B&G, and MX Marine making them one of the largest marine electronics players in the world. Navico also just appointed a new CEO back in January.

My guess is that Navico has not figured out how they are going to sell all of these different brands. Navman and some Northstar products are direct competitors of Lowrance and Eagle. I am not sure why you would want to own both. It will probably take time for Navico to figure out a plan and until they do you will probably see problems and poor supply of these brands.

Just wanted to let everyone know.
    Good Luck!

Owning rival brands is a huge bonus business wise. If you cant get the market share with one brand buy up as many other brands as you can and take thier profits too. There is nothing wrong with cornering the market in this way as it still gives freedom of choice for the buyer albeit still filling the same pockets with your hard earned dosh.
