    Re: What boat to buy

Bat I feel sorry for you, what you are saying doesnt make sense are you okay or feeling sick. Bat and T1 take this elsewhere I am trying to buy a new boat. Start a new thread BAT instead of trying to tag on to the end of mine just because I know T1

Now what boat should I get a 625 cruisecraft explorer or a Allison 21ft vision?

    Re: What boat to buy

G'day Tinn. I went for a ride in a new 685 CC Outsider last week. It was good, but to tell you the truth, i was a little dissapointed by the ride compared to my 5.5m platey, that was untill i realised we were doing 80km'h across the 1/2 - 3/4m chop! That put things into perspective!!

Anyhow, the CC are very nicely finished as you would know. I felt the boats only real downfall was cockpit space for a boat of this size. The transom takes up sooooooo much room. True, there is alot of boat in front of you, but still, i think its the 'workable' deck area that counts. Mine would have more i think, and i don't say that lightly. The Explorer series has a bit more room, but not much.
If workable area is one of your priorities, it certainly would seem to tip the scales in favour of the allison fisherman. You mentioned the vulcan???? Why, if its a fishing boat???? you planning to do a few trips with Pinhead???
Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. But ,flogging him into submission will result in him taking up crabbing.... and once he gets a taste of that sh*t, well, he may never return again.

Haha, My apologies. The Vision is what i meant. Only reference to Pinhead is coz the Vision appears a rather largish cruiser more so than a fishing machine, which is what he spends his weekends on. But hey - we all have families to keep happy. Not a bad compromise i'd say. Good luck.

What i also want to know is why you hid your dig at me under 'Boating Chat' and not in Reports where i regularly frequent?! Or is it you don't want the majority to see your 'true colours' and the stupidity of your narrow minded comments?

It was you and your mate that started[tinn] this! as for true colours have a look at yourselves you tag team up on anyone that "Dares"to express a opinion that differs from your own. As for the Reports section, perhaps you could read other posts that aren't titled Mud,Green and Wello. As for this post's topic it's been done many times before. Unless your looking at a certain make & model before posting to get a measured response it comes down to how long is a peice of string.

BAT Thanks for the reply you need help I don't care what you say anymore but my wife has something to say.

    Tinn's Wife's response:
Thanks BAT. All I really wanted was people's opinions on what boat my family should buy or shouldn't buy. Can't see what people's misfortune or others opinions have to do with you, but I suggest you should keep your comments to yourself.
Maybe you feel the need to bully people online cause your wife won't listen to you. Or maybe you are just a lonely sad individual. Thanks everyone for comments on our future boat, hope to see you on the water soon

BAT, go away champ! We didn't start anything - you intruded into this post and as usual for you, with nothing constructive but destructive! We gang up on no-one - we simply express our opinions like you stated your entitled to! It just happens that yours are a load of SH%T! Would you like me to pull out all your posts and those who have responded with similiar comments to mine?

Now bugger off and let TINN get the info he wants! Seriously...

once decked out the patriot will go over 3000kgs no problem and thats dry weight as a mate has just done the exact thing on a weighbridge, i wouldnt trust the dealer on that one, wild rig though, anyone know how the eden craft could be lighter if they are actually making them stronger than anyone else?

I dont think that navara will cut it mate
1500kg's for the bare hull, (remember this is before hordtop and other extras if you chose those options)
    800 odd kg's for trailer
260-270 kg for motor (then add oil and prop on that so possiby over 300)
    300 odd for fuel
    65 for water if fitted

Thats 2965kg's minimum before fishing gear, eskeys full of ice for a days out etc. You might be right on the limit.

We had a 680 Encore with a single 250 4 stroke and it tipped the scales at 3.3T full of gear ready for a days fishing.

In worst case scenario you may have to put all your fishing gear, eskeys in the car and load them in at the ramp when you arrive.

    Cheers

Thats okay Adamy you will be welcome anytime once I finally purchase it. Still doing a bit of homework that is why I put this post up for a bit of help but not all people like to help. That ignore thing sounds good might have to give it a go.

    Re: What boat to buy

Maybe something along the lines of a 600F Haines Signature? Or maybe the new 632F could be nice? I (personally) also like the Seafarer Vagabond.
Good luck with whatever you choose

    Re: What boat to buy

I had a look at that new Haines at the Melbourne Boat Show. You would need to be about 7ft to fish over the sides but it was a beautiful boat.

You have plenty of good boats to look over in the lists so far. Sometimes getting the boat for the "family" will later turn out to give you a boat that you will be disappointed with in some aspects if you get serious with offshore fishing and either the wife and kids have other things they would rather do than go out with you. Not saying that is your case but I have seen that happen many times.

For a young family you want to get a safe, good riding boat with shelter and privacy for the kids and the wife - other than that go hard core with the fishing features.

Good hunting - thats the fun part

    Re: What boat to buy

    IMHO
1 Every boat is a compromise. Ride at anchor V.s Planing speed. Weight V strength, comfort V. Cost etc etc etc.
2 A mate reckons that the definition of compromise is "Noone's happy"

cant help you with a specific "buy this boat" but Im equally sure you'll love whatever you end up with.
