Nudgee Beach and Mud
Was out around mud for awhile on wed, but no gps and no sounder made it slightly more difficult, fished around jeays reef for awhile then tried a spot x (well I thought I was close to it) for only a small snap going around 30.
While at jeays saw a school of tailor working so headed over for a flick with some slugs. Got 1 around 32-33 and then got a grinner very next cast then no more fish
Headed back to Jackson creek and went up that creek that goes off towards the airport to drop a fairly decent flatty and managed a nice sandy in one of my pots.
All rite day until time to leave, motor decided it didn’t want to work, oh boy, try paddling a friggin 16ft I think boat around aiming for crab pots against the wind and current....
took maybe 2 and a half hours to get pots and then get back to the boat ramp, the thing that kept me going was knowing the origin was on, got home in time to fillet the tailor and cook the crab, sat down and watched QLD lose, but had a good dinner all the same
Last Monday was at Nudgee as well for a fish from the shore, very very quite day, no one was getting much. Got there around 9:30 am stayed till about 4:30 pm and only had 2 flatties to show for it. First was caught on an ancient soft plastic, have had it for more then a couple of years but never used it. Was my first ever fish on a soft plastic went 40cm.
Second flattie was on a prawn and went 45.
Yes both were kept but nothing beats fresh fish especially when its flathead.
Saw no bait, nothing, couldn't even get bites on the stinky stuff from little bream.
No one else got anything along that stretch, near the mouth that I saw.
