    top flathead sesh

    hey guys,
Three reports in one here to lazy to report first sessions but after today I thought I would put it all in one. last tuesday i decided to have a crack at the local creek for some flatties after about ten minutes of casting a ecogear shortcurl worm I hooked up to the first flattie and going about 55cm he was no slouch to cut a long story short I landed another 5 flatties one just under size one about 75cm and two more between 50 and 60cm all were released because it is such a vunerebal system all fish were caught in a 20 mtr strech of creek. two days later I hit the same strech with a mate we landed 5 between us but not as good quality as the first day.Today I decided to hit the creek again the fishing started off well with the 4th cast landing a 50cm model the next hour saw 5 more landed with the biggest being my pb at just under 1mtr that was fun on 1kg crystal fireline once again all fish were caught in the same 20mtr strech of creek it is no more than 15mtrs wide and 2ft deep.the last trip the stand out plastics were the 3inch realsticks with a 1/20th jighead and the 3inch berkley powerbait in watermelon with the same jighead.also after the three days fishing I landed 6 bream between 20 and 30 cm.for the record all fish were released so I can go again next week and do it all over again.sorry no photos so all fish were alledgedly caught .

    cheers

sounds like another top flatty session, and looks like being a good season. Would have loved to have seen a pic of the almost metre specimen.

Great catch on the 1kg fireline mate, and a big pat on the back for releasing as well, the estuary species cop a flogging around brissy so its great to see people get the fun of catching and doing no damage whatsoever by releasing.
Tell me, what reel do you use with the 1kg?, i like the shimano stradic 1000 for the ultra light stuff.

hey alleycat I use a shimano nexus 1000 not a bad little reel for the money.I have given it a good run on some pretty good fish the standouts being a 5kg mack tuna and a 4kg queeny and it has being faultless so far.

I don't suppose you'd be willing to share the creek you were fishing at? No probs if it's your spot X, just thought I'd ask, been looking for a spot to practise my soft plastics that actually have some fish in it.
