Hi All
Been a while between posts but the last 3 weeks have been interrupted by a viral infection which hopefully has seen the back end now... Certainly curtailed the planned Tailor trips down the coast but hopefully this week !
TINN and i have been doing a bit of exploring of late and as you can tell by our posts, nothing productive has shown up - yet anyway! So last night, we left boat ramp and headed straight to 'Destination Unknown Maestro's', or for the purpose of this post, DUM! The trip was 'nice' and we went straight to spot SEMI - a previous bit of ground where we had some success (albeit limited) and decided we'd anchor up and sit it out. Well, we did! For 5 hours! Not a single hit! Not on Mullay, not on Ragfish, not on SP's! And a succulent berley trail going all night! So just before the high, we up'd anchor and headed to a spot further south east of spot SEMI at DUM (which was like Narrowneck when we first passed there on the way to SEMI). With only one other boat working the area, we did a few drifts and a few smaller snap's on SP's came on board (all released) before the curfew time hit and we headed back to .
Seabreeze had last night at about 15-20 knots and i would have to say that it would have been lucky to be 1.5-2 knots! The western bay was a mill-pond! It would have been a perfect night at another spot in the western bay ( ) where we have had great success on a regular basis but at least we eliminated spot SEMI from our future trips. Sometimes, you have to stick with what you know if you want a feed, but as a few experienced AF'ers say, if you don't explore you don't know! And even though we didn't nail anything last night (or in the previous few exploration trips), we have learnt something from each one ('I said lets hit SEMI at DUM and TINN said NO, NO, NO...')!
So, the bay gets a rest this week and i'm heading off down the coast for some succulent Tailor fillets this week (if i can fit into my usual spot - as there's no secret spots on the beaches down the coast)! Here's hoping to a productive post later this week!
Take Care T
