    floor hole question

In my glass boat the builge cavity is completely sealed. But was wondering if I should drill a hole in the floor near the stern so that any water in the builge (between the hull and the floor) can escape to the upper surface where the builge pump is.

    Comments?

    Re: floor hole question

If you do that it could sink......

If the underfloor area is sealed then only "x" amount of water can get in and by rights the hull should be designed to remain floating under such circumstances. If you breach the floor then the leak would continue inside the boat and your bilge pump may well be unable ot cope with the rate of water ingress.

    Cheers
