    Question Help with Furuno GP-7000F

Howdy All - Have said unit but can't seem to get it working properly. When I'm out I can't get a picture or reading for the bottom I have a thru hull transducer and this morning I got one reading of depth in metres then it reverted back to a few colors and changed the range from 20 to 40 to 80 to 100+ then just blue screen with water temp and range symbols showing. At no time did it show a bottom. I tried playing with noise reduction.

Any ideas of what to try?

Both ... I think I might crank the gain up to 100% and see what happens. I was playing with the gain but now that I think about it the unit was set to auto and even though I was changing the percentage (and could visually see this happen) I think it reverts back to auto settings which are 50%.

    Something isn't quite right there.
It sounds as though it's repowering itself all the time.
Might be worth a talk to the service guys at Taylor Marine (Furuno service guys).

I agree with Finga on this one. It might be well worth your while chatting with the service people at Taylor Marine. As stated, they are the service people for Furuno.

One thing you could try before you do that, would be to unplug the unit and the re connect it all just in case a connector is not sitting just right? You never know.

Yeh - when in doubt unplug and fire it up again ... tried that. Thanks for that guys I was hoping it may have been a setting rather than a transducer problem or unit problem. I'll have a play with it again tomorrow and see what gives. Didn't really get a chance this morning as the mackerel were on and then when I cleaned up it was freezing and I just wanted to get home.

I've had a play with it and now I get a good picture of the bottom but it won't show depth. If I go to auto mode it won't hold the bottom and will scroll through the ranges. When in manual the book says there is a function called depth info in the setup but it doesn't come up on mine. I did see it originally when playing around but now it doesn't show. Have I turned something else off that may have affected this as well??
