well its ordered and my first fcv620 colour sounder should be here next week ,seeing as so many people on this site seem to use them or the 585,6100's etc ,i was hoping that some of you would part with your knowledge and experience in the setup and settings of this sounder instead of just using it in the auto mode and not getting the best out of it,in a previous thread some wants to find prawns with his sounder, surely they cant be that good

I have not as yet used mine this way, but have been told to use it in the dual mode where you have both side working on the screen at once.

If you are down around the southside on Tuesday night then get along to Leisure Marine and have a listen to Rick Huckstepp. This man sure does know a lot about the Furuno gear and will not lead you astray.

Check out this site for more info. They have asked to book a place for catering purposes.

I found reading the manual that comes with the unit to be a wealyh of info when i first got mine i ran it on auto everything and it worked great slowly i leatnt to set a few things to how i want them for the areas that i fish . Setting the range incriments was one of the first things i did to suit the areas i fish they are a great unit not had an ounce of trouble with mine to date i think you will see everything in a whole new light .....

Not sure if you'll get much out of Rick Huckstep regarding Furuno gear. I heard that he was now working for Navico, the new Simrad/Lowrance/Navman people.......apparently they pay more? If the hat fits wear it!

Mate set up your pages, units, depths as per the book but don't wory about too much about not using auto mode, as it works just fine in auto, all depths, all conditions, all speeds.

    cheers

sounds like all of you are happy with the 600w transducer, was reading up on the
1000w on the website and to me seems more for deeper water and a lot more expensive too, around here the 600w will siut just fine
