Hints Tips, you should have received the latest newsletter. Marion Dory trips for 2008 are fully booked.
Tackle loss - 10 knife jigs in4 hours if the big ones are around.
They have plenty on the boat. They are into huge Soft plastics. My tackle bill for the wife and I was around $1500. That included one respool of a Torsa 20 for about $100.
Creek to Coast had some good footage on it last week. Not sure if it is available on their website.
The trip will be awesome and something only a few people in the world have experienced.
Al, what were the huge SPs they were using and what was their target species, they [Nomad] usually use SPs for reef species like trout etc.
Thanks mate

We were using large TT heads, 8oz 16oz, Plastics, well anything BIG. We had good success on BOZO Grubs, a big yellowish grub. The prices on the boat were less than retail. They buy in bulk and pass the savings on.
Species - Sailfish (50kg), Dogtooth, Trout, Trevally, Bass, Job Fish love them plus the odd shark.
My wife had more success using plastics than knife jigs.
Yeh, I heard about the sail on an over sized grub, certainly pricked my ears up and the got the pulse racing . I have been trying to get a Billfish on a minnow or stickbait but a plastic would certainly be 'WOW' .
I am also going on the may 11 marion reef trip. I can't wait every time I go into Fishhead I end up talking to Duncan for half an hour about the trip but this is probably making it worse.
Alan Tsv, thanks for your information on the cost of tackle you and your wife went through, this is the first time I've had a ruff idea of what it would cost if I took nothing up at all. I have been buying one jig or one popper or something I will need for the trip (but can still use back here) every week so that I wasn't hit with it all in one lump some but that doesn't sound too bad.
By the sounds of alot of feed back are the stickbaits probably the most commonly used lure as they are used for a wide range of species?
Hopefully going out for some popping and jigging this week (weather forbidding) out side straddy for some practice.
Hopefully will be getting Saltiga or Stella before the trip so seeing all of the pros and cons of each reel biast or not is very helpfull.
