Despite the rain on Tuesday, I needed my fix so I headed up to Bribie early in the morning. I arrived around 5.15 am and sheltered under the bridge. Needless to say from the relative comfort of the only dry spot available I did not even get a bite, so after half an hour or so I switched to the other side of the bridge. This also proved to be useless tactic.
As the tide started to run out with a bit more flow I moved down to Buckley’s Hole and waded out into the rain. Then the fun started with the Bream. I was getting plenty of bites on the Gulp Shrimp and my favorite Pumpkinseed Minnow Grub but initially they kept spitting them. I switched to the Gamakatsu curved hook 1/8th No.2 jigheads which have worked well with the bream in the past and immediately started to hook up. I got two undersize Bream around the 20 cm mark then a really nice 34 cm who weighed in at 820 grams. I ended up with 5 keepers before I just decided I was too wet and cold to carry on at about 10.00 am.
A very wet morning but there were plenty of fish about if you were mad enough to be out there.
