My new saltist is faulty, I hope?
Hi, I just bought a saltist Overhead 30 HS today and while one of my workmates was mucking around with it we discovered a fault. When you engage it and then wind slowly it grinds the gears, but if you engage it and wind quickly it everything it okay. I hope it's not common, I'm returning it tomorrow, has anyone else experienced it?
Thanks

Re: My new saltist is faulty, I hope?
Mate it sounds like it has a fault in there
I have a saltist 50, in the highspeed and its a dream
Only problem was the pinion gear which got burred while i casted with the reel still halfway between being in gear and out
Once that was replaced ($10 if i remember) its been a dream to use.
They're a great reel and can really rip a lure through the water.
Good luck mate

I have the same reel and have never had a problem with it.

Apparently there is no problem, because I have no weight on the spool (no line) the spool has problems engaging properly. I was given a demonstation and it was noticeable on other brands also. I'm happy now, I own a couple of daiwa threadlines and could not be happier, this is my first daiwa OH (always been shimano man), just got to decide what braid to put on it.
Thanks
