13 whaler setup?
Anyone running a tiller arm setup? I am considering setting a 13 whaler for my son but I think steering and such is overkill and a waste of space? anyone agree/disagree?

G'day
On a boat that size you could go either tiller or remote steering.
I'd prefer tiller, much less to go wrong and much more compact and resposive.

Re: 13 whaler setup?
Hi Jack.
I run a 4.2 open tinny with a home-made tiller arm, just a piece of poly pipe the correct length and diameter to fit over the handle.
I'm happy with the way it works, once you get used to it it is quick and efficient.
I take this boat over the bar when conditions are right, (just to illustrate that I am confident in the way it works).
I like the fact that I can control the boat from well forward of the rear thwart,
putting my body weight right over the mid point or slightly forward of it.
My tiller arm is about 1.75m long, easily detached and stowed when not under way.
Cheers.
