    Re: bribie beach

The bottom end of Bribie is an OK location for summer whiting from about September through to February or March. Skirmish Point (the south east corner of the island) produces tailor and dart as well. It is also a good land based spot for mackerel in the late summer months. You will get the odd bream or tarwhine off the beach but not in any numbers since there is no structure to hold them, just open sandy bottom. For a variety of fish (bream, cod, Moses perch, flathead, pike etc) try Buckley's Hole where there is some structure which you can cast to easily at low tide.

Buckley's hole is a good spot for bream, whiting flat head and the odd squire. There is a good ledge there that drops from about 1m to 6m. The ledge is well within casting distance. If you go a little further around to redbeach you will pick up some tailor and summer whiting at the right time of year. Further around is skirmish point which produces whiting & tailor as well.

You can also try under the bridge at night for the normal species as well.

always use caution when and if your landbased and parking your car at the carparks in skirmish and red beach areas,,,, although its fairly safe to say that we have a problem during holiday seasons,, these areas are out of sight from where you fish and more importantly other motorists going by,,, ie you have to travel into the parking areas from the main roads,,

theres been a few threads on here about the bottom end though,,,,and as scot above has posted theres been a bit of action about over the past week or so,,

what's it like for fishing off the beach on the eastern part across from those lagoons? I know you can get pippies there.

    Re: bribie beach

its more of a case that we do get our share of visitors that have the frame of mind that if you own it,,, and they want it,,, why buy it wen its there for the taking,,,

but as stated above,, holiday season is worse,,,, but that also stated,,, we do still have a few locals,,,

the parking area at skirmish got that bad they erected cameras and had survellance,,,, they stole the cameras and the survelliance proved a costly affair so it was pulled also,,, much the same at buckleys hole,,,, they took the cameras,,, but left the signs stating that the area was under camera survellance,,,,

but all in all,, its like everywhere,,,, if you have valuables in the car that people can see,,, your asking for trouble,,

permits to gain access to the beach guys are also needed,,,,,,,,,

go the plastics in the low water gutters in the surf. try three inch berkley minnows on light gear, its very addictive. fished a lot in the surf with sp's and they are great.

if you twisted for pippies and used them for bait would that be alright or would the twisting in the water scare the fish away?
