Your top bait for the following....

Gotta say SQUID, for the fish with a bit of aggression then squid presented as a lure as well as bait and for the Jew whole squid doubled up and presented as swimming to make a big mouthful. For fish like whiting small worm like strips work best sometimes less is more but for most fish other fish big well presented squid baits.
I like other baits but if I have some squid in the freezer there is not a fish I cannot catch. Sometimes another bait might do better although as an all rounder and even an all the time bait it is a beaut.

My next fav would be mullet mainly for it's holding ability and then whole fish and live bait all in order of bother not necessarily gun best bait as one must be able to present for target (of coarse live bait presents well naturally) but if I have squid I can fish anywhere anytime for anything and have a better than even chance. Thank god for squid

Just a hint when using just about any flesh bait there is not a hook made that is long enough to present it well, exception can be whiting.

I'm with you FNQ, cant go past it. I was really supprised when i started getting a crap load of Whiting on small strips of squid. I really really love calamari but fresh caught squid is irrisistable to almost anything.
