Just got back from a week with the "Fisher Boats Crew".
I was asked if I would like to tagg along to the Oceanic Whitsundays Airlie Beach boat show with my new Fisher 680 "Spin Doctor" . Col asked if he could show the boat at the show and said why don't you come along and we do a bit of fishing after the show. Well it took me all of two seconds to reply, when do we leave?
We left on Thursday and arrived 13 hours after a long haul in the wet. Spent the next day detailing " Spin Doctor" and setting up for the show.
Luckily the sun prevailed over the weekend and the show was a great success with people coming from all over to visit.
Great to meet a lot of the to NQ "Fisher" owners and have a chat about boats fishing and the one that got away.
By sunday evening after packing up from the boat show we were biting at the bit to get out to the reef to try our luck. Weather forecast was for 10/15 for the Monday and picking up for the rest of the week, so it was all go to rig and get ready to be in the water before daybreak.
Three "Fishers" met at the ramp at Airlie, two of the local boys, Mark and Mal in their 5 metre centre consoles and my 6.8 metre maxi.
We made our way out to the reef through a 1 to 2 metre slop and set up to see what we could find.
The pics will show what we caught. Col took the lead with the most fish caught, Max the leader for bait fish, me for the lost rig comp and "Mackeral Mark" for the best 2 spanish.
We went back out on Wednesday around the islands to chase Spanish but the 30 knot winds got the upper hand and we headed back in to drown the sorrows.
All in all a great week and what better way to first blood the "Spin Doctor"
Thanks to the Fisher Boats Crew and especially the boys from Airlie and Prosperpine for the overwhelming hospitality given to us during the stay.
