    Waypoint transfers

I currently have a Lowrance LCX 15MT GPS sounder combo. The GPS module has failed and I am contemplating upgrading to a seperate sounder and GPS unit. Is there any way that the waypoints that I have on my current unit can be transferred to another unit of a different brand without having to do all of them manually.

    Wazza,
As you know I had the same unit and religously saved my waypoints to the MMC card using the trnsfer data utility in the menu. Then when I purchased the Eagle intellimap the MMC card fitted straight in and I was able to transfer everthing over rather easily. Not sure however with other models.

If you like I can manually enter all your waypoints in if you like.......

Easily done with Oziexplorer. I have recently added all the *.usr file information (from a Lowrance with MMC card) off Ymer and added it to my old Oziexplorer waypoints we had uploaded a million and one times on Lowrance/Eagles and Garmins.

Sounds like a good offer as long as you don't look.

    Wazza,
    Yknot is right.
I have LCX15CI. My worry is can you get your WPTs off your failed unit?
My steps would be as Wazza says:
    1. From GPS unit save WPTs to MMC (take out your map MMC and put in empty MMC - to avoid destroying your map!)
    2. Put MMC into new GPS and read in all the files. On my unit when u read in WPT they are ADDED to the existing WPTs on your GPS. Not sure how duplicate names are treated!!! I suspect last loaded name is kept (as I have not seen any duplicates!)

If you have a copy of your WPTs on your computer then:
    1. Save the lowrance WPT file from computer to your MMC card (in your card reader)
    2. same as 2. above

All too easy really and no software is required!!

    Wazza,

Let me know if you need oziexplorer I have it on CD somewhere, mate you know I wouldn't look.
I gather you tried Mat's antenna on your unit and it didn't work.
Also the Map card that I had, which is the same as yours also works fine in the intellimap, seemed to be the cheapest option when I fitted out the new boat

    Cheers

    Seith,
Just so happens I use an LCX19C on the new boat. Might have to borrow your card for 5 minutes one day!
