Insulation for Under Floor Ice Box

    Hi Team.

Your best recommendations to line internal sealed under floor cavity of around 1.0m long x 360mm wide by 260mm deep - used for ice/chill box please?

Here is one way as suggested previously in 2006:

    1) Make outer casing of tank from alloy.

    2) Line inside of that casing with polystyrene (or whatever insulation material).

    3) Then using either thin gauge stainless or alloy again, make the inner lining.

Any thoughts on other methods/materials would be appreciated.

Splash, good to see all the Qs your asking,
with this one i can help as a mate did it not long ago,
just get some of that cold room pannel, you can buy some off cuts, to fix it on the floor of your boat just put a few small dabs of sikaflex on the back ( not to many ) of the highest point.. do all four sides then sika around the edges, also get some alloy angle line 50 x 50 is good, cut to suit the inside and sika that in, this thing will go nowhere in a hurry
dont forget to sika a pice of PVC pipe for your drain plug

damn i hope that made sence, one too many reds me thinks

    Thanks Cracker Jack.

Where do I get this cold room panel stuff?

Should this coold room panel stuff be insulated/lined on out and inside?

My drain plug is on bottom of floor - how do I arrange for the PVC pipe aligned to drain plug?

im not sure where you are, but you can just about get this stuff anywhere http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Products/Coldroom-Panels,
its about 50mm thick, coolite in the center with very thin alloy on both sides
so all you dois cut your 4 sides and bottom to suit your opening
i really need a pic of the setup to explain the drainplug bit

Ps; dont pay what they want for the offcuts as it sits in there yards for years, make them an offer

back soon footy is back on

    I am in Cairns.

So, 'Coolite' is the name of the product?

Looks like no show in Cairns.

What industry in Cairns could I possibly contact tomorrow?

    ok received PM thanks
what have you got on the engine side of that box ? ( other side of box ) can you Drill/and seal another hole? i dont know where that bung leads to, much easier to have a look and then answer the Qs.. really anything can be done

how big is your boat? how long are you away for?
if you had more time you are more than welcome to bring your boat here and we could do it in a day, i only say to bring it here is because i know i have all the gear... ( not saying you dont )
