What an awesome catch, and well done for the release too. It's Gotta be a good thing to have some big breaders and feeders out there.

Well done, that was a great triumph on bass gear and a very tidy jew.... bloody envious mate!
Not enough time in the day, to many spots to fish!

We arnt getting numbers here yet either but the quality of the fish is pretty good. The plastics are outfishing the bait fishos at the moment though. Surprising to see that the snapper will still hit plastics in the shallow water in the middle of the day after they have stopped taking bait.

Love your work Rod
Great fish on the light gear

Hi Rod,
I have been using Plastics for about five years and can not see me going back as I have caught bigger, better and more fish than ever before. I haven't had much success at night though. It may well be that the fish aren't there at night. The plastics are outfishing the bait fishos at the moment though. Surprising to see that the snapper will still hit plastics in the shallow water in the middle of the day after they have stopped taking bait.
I know you use Hard bodies at night but what about plastics?

I have caught a lot of Jacks at night on plastics as well as numerous flathead and Bream. Most of these fish were fishing exactly as I would in the day with no artificial light to aid the fish finding the lure. I agree with your thoughts that sometimes the fish are just not there. I have found with the plastics that once it gets dark (just after sunset ) the bite shuts down. Once it has been dark for several hours the fish seem to start to feed again. I used to do a lot of Nocturnal Bass fishing in South Africa with plastics and only used to go out after 9:30 at night and used to rack up huge numbers of fish while the guys were doing it tough during the daylight hours. Also banks that didnt hold fish in the day seem to fire at night and vice versa.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Cheers Rod
Thanks Rod,
I will have to give it a serious go at night.
