I am new to this site and was looking for some info on catching flatties/bream or whiting in Pumistone. I've tried a few times and have done poorly. Would love any help I can get. I've used live worms and soft plastics, both of which i had a lot of success on in NSW south coast but can't work the passage out?!?
Also is Bribie much "chop" for Tailor off the beach this time of year?
I'm on hols so I can try most times at the moment.
mate i grew up on bribie some years ago and stil visit regularly.
if flathead are what you want your a little early in the season yet.try opposite the boat ramp at bongaree over on the sand flats near tiger rocks.or anywhere on the island side from this ramp south to where the old wreck used to be there is a ledge that runs all the way 20-30mtrs offshore along this region.forget the worms ,half pillies ,lives ,or lures.as for the surf at present the best gutters for tailor are skirmish or anything from the camping ground north to the bunker and beyond.just get a high around dawn or dusk
Mate the mouth of Ningi creek is a good spot for bream and flat head, also try buckley's hole. I've been catching a few in those two spots and mostly on mullet flesh (fresh). Over the years I've been catching plenty of tailor off the beach my favourite spot is out front of fourth lagoon. Usually at night or just on sunrise.
skipper,i fish for whiting regularly from donnybrook to coochin only with bloodworms.i find a afternoon rising tide best you have to keep moving with the fish.best fish in cooler months.
All depends if you are baoting or land based.
If boating try the sandbanks out in the bay for whiting using worms, try around the northern end for flatties and bream always seem to do better on Dawn or dusk.
If land based try whitepatch area livies if possible
mate if your going to around for awhile give me a pm,,,,, we're back out on the water this morning,,, leaving the marina ramp 'round 6ish,,,,,
most of the spots above that have been mentioned are good,,,, but the tides are back to front this week (for me anyway),,,,still the mouth of ningi is producing a few flattie,,, heaps of sandies about,,(watch your size) and in the main channel a drift is picking up a mixed bag,,,, the bridge was working yesterday for bream/squire
call into bribie sports,,,near the jetty,,, these guys are okay,, and will put you in the spots that have been producing,,,,, but things are a tad quite at the 'mo,,, or it might be just me,,,,,,,,,
look for the gold 4b with the ausfish logo,,, you cant miss it,,,and call us on 91,,
