silver trevally

hey, i fish alot of the rocks with my light gear and pick up a few silver trevally on plastics, mostly of berkly 3 inch drposhots, but they are only small in size ( they pull hard on light gear but ) i was wondering how to catch the bigger ones on plastics, i have tried a bigger plastics such ass gulp's jerkshads, but i cant pull them and as soon as i swithc to a 3 inch i pull them. i know they are down there cause i have caught them on baits, but i just love the satisfaction on catching them on plastics.

any information on this would be appreciated, stuart

Where are you from mate...?....NSW?
The only Silver trevally I have caught have been when I lived in Sydney.
They are available off the rocks and in the harbour and bays.
In the harbour we picked up some nice ones on the ever faithfull Berlkley 3 inch minnow in the watermelon colour.

hey, i come from the central coast of nsw, and fish on the norah head rocks, avoca, the haven, and occasionally go just offshore and spin for salmon and pelagics.

i cast out as far as i can in different locations and try and find the fish. letting my plastic hit the bottom occasionally and flick it up rapidly, often i get smashed on the drop, i also use little metal snipers, the r dynimite on trevally, but unfortunatly there are a few rat kingies out there which are a bit to much for us to handel.

Don't know how 'light' your line class is, but if you can't get the big ones, you can always drop the line class and make it a little more challenging catching the ones you've got... Other than that, maybe try some poppers????

I used to fish in Botany Bay when I lived in Sydney. Putt out and anchor up off the airport runway. Using yabbies as bait, pumped at Grays Point the afyernoon before, and man we used to catch heaps and heaps of good sized tevally. And bream also. 20 in a 4 hour session was common, quite often double that between 3 fishermen.

Then the hair tail arrived so we went up to bunnerong power station. MAn can those hairtail go like trains.....

hey m8..
u catch the smaller ones on lil soft plastics but what works for me is a small popper..red head popper..
when u see them chasing the bait, cast straight past them and bring ur lure through where they are splashing..
