congratulations. go the soft plastics. forget those stinky fingers

Well finally it has happened! I was on the Gold Coast on the weekend fishing with my brother and his kids at their secret spot-x. I'd never caught anything before on an SP and was about to chuck them in the bin (after the last fruitless session using them) and tie a prawn on when I decided to give them one more chance. On went a 3" minnow grub in pumpkinseed with glitter all over and out she got cast. A few slow retrieves later followed by a twitch twitch and I got 3 hits in rapid succession but no hookup. Reeled it back it in to discover the tail had been completely chomped off with another 2 small bites taken out of the sp. I was really peeved for not getting the fish and in disgust, I threw it back out as it was without bothering to put a new sp or a bait on. Same method of retrieve with a twitch here and there and BANG, a lovely lizard of 56cm jumps on and gets brought in after a small tussle. Man I was stoked and very surprised that the fish actually took an already butchered SP .
I gave the fish to my bro for his and the kid's dinner for which they were very grateful as that was the only fish caught for the 2 hr session I was there for. Sorry no pic as I didn't have my camera with me. I can't w8 now to get back out and give them another go!
Cheers,
Dorado

well done mate,great feeling hey.
If i could get paid the same to fish, sorry boss but i ......!
Well Done! There's nothing like the anticipation while twitch-wind-twitching then the heart stopping adrenaline rush as the artificial stops and goes into reverse big time with something hanging onto it. Beats drowning a bait!!!
Cheers,
Steve.
Well done Dorado
That's a great opener of the placcie account, the Lizards love them! Don't be afraid to put on another whole placcie that presents well, you just might end up hooking onto an express train to Tahiti Then you will thank yourself for being particular about the presentation!! LOL

Yeah it sure was a great feeling indeed, especially after trying for years and getting nuttin! I even recently caught my first ever lure caught fish, an estuary cod on a long gold bomber! Things are starting to look up Looking forward to more of this kinda fun from now on! Thanks for the replies

Well Done!! They sure are addictive, I think I could open my on tackle shop with the amount of plastics and Jig heads I have now!!
Like they say the plassies catch more fishermen than fish but that doesn,t stop me from baggen fish from the shallows of sandbanks and reefs.
Heres a tip my wife catches the big ones because she reels them in much slower from bordom but thats what they like to hid.
great work and by the sounds nice lizard.
i regually chase flatty but have never had my plastic get bitten in half or tail bitten of before.but utleast u got him good work

How ya living?
Nice work Dorado. Sure beats my first fish on a placcie which was a whiting only a little bit longer than the bait.
