Thread: Trebles for Impondment Barra

    Re: Trebles for Impondment Barra

Its got nothing to do with drag pressure, or tree's for that matter.
Its jaw pressure. Barra have plenty of it, you can have light drag or heavy drag, Barra will flex their might.
Hooks will hold in any territory providing they are bedded, your braid is the weak point not the hook.
VMC's are an inferior product, Owners are the yardstick.

You must have small barra where you come from or you obviously you have not caught or even see a large barra; But you are right about one thing barra do have strong jaws;but thats not the case all the time;As for VMC thre still up the and dont carry the same price tag as owners.

    Re: Trebles for Impondment Barra

Yeh most of the Barra round here are in the small catagory.
So your saying that Barra have strong jaws only some of the time?
I will add that even 700mm Barra will open Owner stn-66's, they are incredibly powerful for their size. Ive lost count how many have stretched owners on my hb's.
Skerro, I dont mind constructive criticism mate, catch a few more and get back to me regarding the hooks.
    Cheers

Skerro, might wanna do a bit of research, read a few fishing mags or watch a few fishing shows before commenting on Jason (matrix) ability or knowledge about impoundment barra.

He is also right about barra in the timber. Your braid, leader and poor knots will give way before the Owner trebles straighten.

    Re: Trebles for Impondment Barra

Ok guy's just to add something out of left field, i know several fishermen( one makes a popular barra lure) that have changed there trebbles to DECOY JIG hooks, 1 on the front loop near the bib and 2 opposed on the rear loop. These hooks are very strong and sharp. the action i'mtold seems uneffected and the hook up rate is good. i know one guy that has changed all his trebles to decoys( over 30 lures) and this was a big investment it will be interesting to see how many do this in the future.

    Ian

Decoys can be found on Wellsys site
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!

Decoys are a differant design and to quote there marketing( The unique design allows the hook to be fixed on a single split ring on jig or minnow)

Her's a pic from Wellsys site

    Paul,
Will try and catch up mate, Oct is a busy month........twins are due and the ABT. Umm I wonder if I'll get to fish ABT this year. Either way, make sure you email me the dates your up, will catch up for a beer at the very least.

Skerro, not a truer word spoken, esp when it comes to fishing. Ya didnt ruffle my feathers, we are all learning. Some learn quicker than others.

Ned, they are not bullet proof, but the next best thing. Good luck.
Shit anything that has the word OWNER on it is costly, but you get what you pay for.
    Cheers fella's
