    Townsville's tail dancing tarpon

Well headed out for a quick fish this afternoon near the casin0, hoping to maybe catch a small feed.

It was the wife's decision to head out, and every time she fishes, she always out fishes me. i was hoping today would be different.

She's using bait, while i flick lures, the wife is convinced hard bodies don't work as she has never seen me land a fish on one yet, anyways just on dark i felt a tap on the lure and i thought the fish might be coming on, another quick cast in the same direction and a gentle tap, and i'm on to a small Tarpon, taking off into the air. In the attempt to release him i brought him up the rocks with a grin from ear to ear saying something like "these lures don't work hey?" when my line snapped and tarpon and lure fell deep into the rocks . 5 min later, a few scrathces on the arms and legs and the little tarpon (1kg) was sent back to the blue and i was able to keep my lure.

The Mrs now wanted a part of this lure fishing so i quickly set another bomber onto her rod, and even before i could finish tying my lure back on, i hear a splash, and i see this large tarpon taking to the skies...

2nd cast with a lure and she's on. she eventually lands a tarpon after a spectacular aerial display... double the size of the one i only just released, and in true tarpon style, the release was difficult as this big guy flicks out of my hands and also buries himself deep into the rocks. Few more choice words and he eventually was released also.

Mrs is stoked, 2nd cast with a lure, and once again catches the better fish.

unfortunately we left the camera at home, sorry guys no photo's

Good to hear some action was had. It was about last year this time that we also had some fun with the tarpon. I am not sure how long we will be able to fish the rock walls with all the construction starting. Hopefully some Grunter come along soon. It was also about this time last year that the wife and I each caught a metre plus long Hairtail.

And for me, probably the same as you.................it is situation normal as the wife always out fishes me.

    Cheers

    That sounds like fun.

It's worth getting a couple of white feathered jigs as tarpon just love them and where there's two, there's bound to be a school. But, then again, the boss may just use that as another opportunity to put the boot in.

    Good onya
