Mud wipe out - Thur late report
Went to Mud last Thursday -- left Pinkenba at 4:00am -- headed for Mud. There was a bit more wind than I thought there would be (about 12 knots from SW) and once outside the river it was fairly rough - though I guess it is all relative - I was in a 4.1 polycraft tiller steer.
I planned to fish the western and St Helena side first up but it was little too rough so proceeded to the north east side.
All looked good -- in position before dawn -- high tide around 8:30am -- second bite period around that time as well.
Used the electric to motor in close (<2m) and slow drift out to 5.3m. I was using 9lb fireline with 10lb fluorocarbon leader, 1/6 oz TT 3/0 h jig and 5 " saltwater assassin in nuclear chicken colour -- not a touch. Tried throwing in front of the drift line and dead sticking -- no good -- tried working with the drift -- lift and release -- no good -- tried jumping over and spearing them -- no good (just kidding). Switched to javallons ( pumpkin seed), power baits, gulps all no good -- only a couple of grinners.
After the top of the tide moved in close to the timber and tried a sx40 looking for bream - still no good.
It all looked great -- where did I go wrong -- maybe it was the colour of the boat -- bright blue.
Also tried the wall at fishermans -- lots of bait fish in the water but only managed one small bream on the sx40.
I was not going to submit this woeful train of events but thought I might feel better for sharing

Yeah I did see you - I wondered if any other Ausfish members were out there -- The other side was just a bit too rough for me predawn. Did you get the fish on plastics or bait? I think you were using plastics when I saw you.
