Bream and Bar-Tails, Noosa River

Went for a flick this afternoon hoping to pick up a nice lizard.
First cast, Bream. The action was thick and fast with a hit or a fish nearly every cast for a while.
I picked up 8 Bream, biggest going 30cm, and also caught 7 Bar-tailed Flathead ALL undersize.
According to Grants Guide to Fishes, the Bar-tailed is seen only rarely south of Gladstone!
To catch 7 undersize Bar-tails in one session seems a bit unusual to me.
Any thoughts? Global warming LOL.

All fish were caught on Berkeley 2" Shrimp, New Penny colour, using 4 lb braid, 10lb flurocarbon leader.

Plenty of bartails around mate. Seem to hang around the mouths. Sounds like a good session. Nice breambos. Hows the river looking up around johns landing? (clean or mud)

It was definitely clean last week before the rain, since the rain, I dunno mate, although the lower reaches are pretty clear so I reckon Johns would be fine.

can i ask where johns landing is in relation to the tewantin boat ramp? is it upstream or down?

Johns Landing is the camping area between Lake Cooroibah and Lake Cootharaba situated on the Noosa River.

It is upstream from Tewantin

sounds like a great little session yeah i caught 4 bar tail near crab island on Wednesday they only went 34 to 39 cm Whats the legal size for them? i know duskys are 40 to 70cm.

i'm into sp's myself and would love to know the retrieve used for bream and jig head size and hook, i seem to be fairly consistent with flathead but as yat very very minimal luck on the bream, any help be greatly appreciated

Half the secret is to find the fish!
I think when you find the fish they'll basically eat anything if hungry.
Even a well presented plastic or bait or whatever wont get eaten if the fish aren't there to eat it!

Jighead used was a 1/16th Oz with a 1/0 hook and retrieve was very slow with a twitch here and there whilst letting it drift with the current.
