    Newbie lookin new places

Gday all. Im a newbie to boating and bay fishing and i have a 12 ft 15hp tinnie. Im very keen to get out and about the bay but not very confident in the hot spots i hear about eg mud, peel, green. Iv had her out at red bouy at coochiemudloo but launched from the island and not confident in traveling too far to get there from mainland. Does any one think it would b a bad idea to go too far out in the bay like mud etc?

    Hows it going mate
My advice would become confident in your boat and your skills before attempting anything you have reservations about.
Try and get out with someone else who is experienced and get familiar with the area.
Also pick your days your boat will have no dramas getting there and back but it can get rough out in the bay.

Congratulations on making one of the best decisions you could ever make, fishing the bay in a small tinnie!

There's good size fish within 5 mins run of ramps, so why think about going long distances until you have your confidence? Until then, keep an eye on these two sites, as I do whenever planning a trip.

I agree with Russ & Scalem. I have the same size boat & motor. Stay within your confort zone. Know what the weather is predicted to do and keep an eye on it while you're out. Start off on small trips and broaden your boundaries as you get used to the bay and your boat.

Some days the bay is like a mill pond and you'de be as safe as a house in your boat. On these days you could literally go anywhere in your boat. Just have a contingency plan for bad weather and carry all your safelty gear - for 1 its a smart thing to do and 2 you'll get checked by the authorities often enough if you spend enough time on the water.

thanks guys great advice and good reassursance for my confidance. I was hopin i wasnt guna commit suicide by gettin out there. Today was perfect so i headed out to coochie and was even tempted to go bit further but i remembered winds WERE perdecited to go to 10-15 knots which it didnt. But i was very comfortable today, i guess i cant get complacent though aye.
    Thanx agen guys
