Breaking in a new deckie, Fitzroy River

Hit the Fitzroy again on sunday and finally dragged the new deckie out to troll some lures around the usual haunts in town. Came up with two decent threadie's and then my girl got blown away by what I think may have been another late season Barra. Hopefully next time she'll land the big one and be able to show the photos rather than tell her "one that got away" story.

B E N..... the Fitzroy runs through Rockhampton

CQ...... it's close enough to town that when it started to rain that day we ducked under a bridge for cover and if you look for some older reports by me you'll find a photo that makes it plain obvious where it is. Also, a few more seasoned locals have told me to keep things a little quiet (I thought this place would be obvious) as the water will suddenly be filled with nets if it becomes known that fish are congregating there at the moment.

Errr yep ... slap on tha back of the neck with a squid ... I realize the locality.

Josh, if you hid under a bridge to get out of the rain, that must be a mighty old photo .. no rain up this way in ages. Not enough to take shelter from anwway.

    Cheers,

Haha........ I bet you live on the southside of town CQ because when it was raining this past weekend, it was belting down for about half an hour only over the north side and the river. The southside looked like it would have been sunny while it was happening,, it wa a real strange band of cloud that came over and it didn't last too long.

    Flairj,
Hey mate, my parents just moved to rocky and im going to visit them for a week in about a weeks time. I havent been up there since i was a kid, and never been fishing up there. I've been looking around to try and suss out some spots to fish, but was hoping to tap into the local knowledge network.

So if there is anywhere that you can let me know about or even if you would do me the honor of showing me a couple of spots that would be great, thanks
