    Fitzy,

I hear what your saying regarding the C-Tick. I guess in regards to insurance, when your paying half price for a US model you can afford not to claim for your unit if its damaged or stolen, just another part of our "throw away" society i guess. As for resale, no one is interested in second hand electronics, at the rate companies introduce new models, they are obsolete in 12 months.

In the end i guess it all comes down to personal preferance. But one things for sure, information such as on this thread is very positive, and can only inform and assist people in there decision making.

    Hey Nomad
just wondering about your contact at Humminbird .As the software is different for here and the U.S is it possible to get the software for here so i could change it over from the U.S MODEL. I bought my magellan from U.S and changed the basemap over to AUS . So if had the software could change it over (maybe). Not really worried as later on will get Navionics Card .

Hey guys all this C tick stuff a load of rubbish. Fact of life any electrical item that does not have UL approval has the ability to cause a fire. (slim as it may be) Australia's standards are about 1/100th of UL. I guess what I'm saying is don't let this C tick put you off.

The menus and transducers in the export model are exactly the same as what you get with a domestic model.

    Straight from Humminbird USA:

It only reads in imperial, not metric, and the warranty is only valid in the US and Canada. Humminbird also does this to protect their international dealers.

The 787 is a great value and super easy to use. I have one on my boat now. It doesn't have enough manual overides like A scope and bottom lock nor does it allow you to view a section of the water column. The sensitivity is realatively useless, but its auto settings does a pretty good job and is a really good shallow water performer. If you want a unit that you don't have to mess with this unit is perfect. It is also easily operated from buttons on the front of the unit so you don't have to sift through menus which I like a lot.

    Have a great day!
Going by what you say above then the "sounder" side of these units is basically useless.

Might be worth a rethink for those of you who are thinking about these bearing in mind this is a dealer talking above.
